Google has recently announced a new series of laptops called the Googlebook, which the technology giant calls a new category of laptops 'built on the Android technology stack.' Designed to work for Gemini Intelligence and Android phones out of the box, the Googlebook is a line of Android-powered laptops offering a combination of ChromeOS, Android, and Gemini.
A new era for Android-powered laptops
Unlike Chromebooks which typically run on a separate ChromeOS system with a virtual container needed to support Android apps, Googlebooks run on a native, desktop-level Android operating system called the Googlebook OS.
Google worked closely with major laptop manufacturers like Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, bringing premium laptop hardware closer to the Android experience, with every Googlebook featuring 'premium materials like aluminum, magnesium alloy, and carbon fiber.'

This year's selection of Googlebooks feature responsive touchscreens with up to 2.8K resolution OLED displays, haptic glass trackpads, and backlit keyboards with flagship Intel and Qualcomm processors, with dedicated NPUs capable of over 45 TOPs, powering each one.

Googlebooks also highlight the Glowbar, a fancy bar indicator that lights up at startup and shows your battery charge level. It's also said to react with playful animations when you talk to Gemini.
Since Googlebooks are built on the Android foundation, it recognizes your activities from your Android device. As Google mentions:
It starts with setting up your device. When you sign in, your Android phone’s settings, saved passwords, Wi-Fi networks, and messages will move with you, backed by end-to-end encryption. Once you’re set up, Googlebook makes it easy to move between your phone and laptop and back to get things done.
Googlebooks also offer Magic Pointer (which brings Gemini directly to whatever's on your screen by wiggling your cursor), Rambler (which turns spoken thoughts into organized writing), and Create My Widget (which gives users the ability to customize their desktop by generating a custom widget of their choice).
Meanwhile, creative tools like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, and CapCut are also said to bring the desktop-class experience alongside Antigravity for development. 'Developers also get a full terminal environment to run tools like Claude Code or Antigravity CLI,' Google adds.
